Charisma Carpenter
says no to Tae-Bo. The "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" beauty disses the new
fitness workout of the stars
by Liane Bonin
As Cordelia Chase, the glamour puss of ''Buffy the Vampire Slayer,'' Charisma Carpenter doesn't have much opportunity to kick undead butt. But Carpenter, who's set to star in the ''Buffy'' spin-off ''Angel'' this fall, decided to give kick-boxing a try in her free time nonetheless. ''Alyson (Hannigan, who plays Willow on ''Buffy'') dragged me to a Tae-Bo class, and I was going, 'I do not belong here,''' Carpenter, 28, tells EW Online. ''It's so hard! I have no rhythm, and if you have no rhythm, you do not belong.''
The wildly popular blend of boxing, Tae
Kwon Do, and dance may have lured the likes of Brooke Shields, Lela Rochon,
and Carmen Electra to its ranks (along with any insomniac who's been sucked
in by the ubiquitous infomercial), but Carpenter, a former aerobics instructor
and San Diego Chargers cheerleader, says the popular workout is just plain
dangerous: ''You're prone to injury when you move that fast, and you aren't
taking the time to practice good form. I'm really against it, and I will
not be back.'' Damn. Guess we'll never see that Buffy-Cordelia ass-kicking
catfight we'd been hoping for.
